5 Date Night Ideas for Your Living Room

It’s fun to go out with someone you love but sometimes, it can be even more fun to be at home and enjoy a date night indoors. You’ve already paid your rent or mortgage, so you should be able to enjoy the home that you share together!

A cozy date night in a living room can be as romantic as a restaurant adorned with candles and flowers. It’s a good place to connect with one another without the need to break the bank, too. Whether you’re looking to just relax after a very busy week, or you want to spice things up on a budget, we’ve got some date night ideas you can enjoy in your living room:

  1. Stream and binge watch a new TV show. If you can both agree on something to watch, you’re already winning. You both may have options in mind, so choose one of the many streaming services and roll a dice to see who catches the highest number. Whoever gets the highest number chooses both the streaming service and the TV show choice! Or, if you don't want to rely on luck, choose three shows or movies each and assign a number on the dice to those shows. Once the dice is rolled, fate has intervened.

  2. Set up an indoor picnic. Picnics are not just for lakes and parks, you know. You can turn your entire living room into a cozy picnic spot by laying out blankets, platters of food and with candles being lit - you can make it more romantic than a park with bugs! If you don't want to risk knocking over the candles, string up some fairy lights instead. You can enjoy homemade food and choose finger foods that you can feed each other. How romantic is that?

  3. Host a two-person game night. Game nights are not just for groups. Fun date nights always incorporate something fun and whether you go with a naughty couple’s trivia game or you go with Scrabble, you can turn off the tech for the night and have a games night. If you want to make it daring, you can always have some fun forfeits for the loser of each game!

  4. Set up a homemade spa. Creating a spa day is an exciting thing that you can do together. Massages, oils, face packs homemade in the kitchen, a warm water soak - all of these things can be done as a couple and it’s exciting to unwind like this. You can add cozy robes and glasses of something chilled to complete the vibe. You can pamper one another and remember your relationship matters when you do this.

  5. Cook together. For some, cooking together isn't romantic. It’s all elbows and interruptions in the kitchen, but there are different ways to cook together. One of you can do the main meal and the other dessert, for example. Cooking together allows you to enjoy the process and the meal together in the end. It’s an activity of communication, fun and laughter, so why wouldn't you want to enjoy it?

Living room date nights are enjoyable, exciting and romantic. You just have to make them work for you.
