As parents, it is our responsibility to take care of our
kids and nurture them in the very best way that we can. This stretches to all
sorts of different areas of our lives, and theirs. We influence the
way that they interact with strangers and whether
they share their toys with other children. We turn them into the adults that
they will one day become.
It is for this reason that it is also our responsibility to set a good impression for our children. As kids mimic what they see their parents doing, it is a fantastic way to influence them positively. One way that you can really make a positive difference is with their diet. What they eat, when they eat and how often they eat are all key factors.

As kids mimic what they see their parents doing, it is a fantastic way to influence them positively. One way that you can really make a positive difference is with their diet. What they eat, when they eat and how often they eat are all key factors.
So, when
it comes to food, health, and their overall diet, let’s look at how we as
parents can set a good impression for our children.
Show them balance
First of all, remember that children are clever! As they
aren’t allowed to drink it, they will probably latch on early to the fact that coffee
and tea isn’t super healthy for you. However, if
they see you drinking it all the time? They will wonder why they too can’t
always have things that aren’t super healthy, like chocolate and cookies. So,
demonstrate to them that you balance unhealthy food with healthy foods. So,
replace a morning coffee with an aromatic
green tea good for health and digestion. That’s
right! You don’t have to be the picture of perfect health. You are only human,
after all.
Plant a veggie patch
It is understandable that many of us do the majority of our
food shopping at stores. This is fine, but it would set a great impression if
you grew some of the ingredients yourself. No, you don’t have to set up a farm
to do this! Phew! You just need to plant
a small veggie patch in the garden. Kids love
gardening, so get them involved and it will become both healthy and
educational. Show them how to nurture the items you are growing, like potatoes
and carrots. Then, cook them in your meals together. This links nicely to the
next point, which is...
Teach them how to cook and bake
When it comes to providing dinner
for your family, sometimes you will eat out!
Sometimes you will dine at a friend’s house, and be at the mercy of what they
cook for you! And, of course, other times you will treat yourselves to a
takeaway, or something from a fast food restaurant. As we have already mentioned,
you don’t have to eat salad for every meal to set a good impression. But what
you should do is cook and bake in front of the kids, and get them involved.
Teaching children how to cook and bake different items truly sets them up with
an invaluable skill for life. Start simple, with things like bread. Baking is as important as cooking. This is because it is
key to show them that you can make delicious cakes and buns without the
chemicals and preservatives that come in pre-made ones.
