Are you looking for or have a mattress? Here are some tips.

If you have found yourself a mattress that you are comfortable with and you are finally getting a good night’s sleep because of it, you’ll want to protect it as much as possible to save you going through the process of having to try and find a new one.

Protecting a mattress is as easy as you make it and as long as you spend the time ensuring it’s in a good condition, there is no reason why you can’t keep the mattress for years to come. Have a look at some of the following tips that will give you the chance to save your mattress for years.

1. Use a Good Protector
There are plenty of ways you can help protect a mattress, but one of the best accessories you can buy to make the protection process easy from the start is a good mattress protector. Nearly all mattress protectors are 100% waterproof so you can be sure no liquids are going to seep through to the mattress itself, and it also means that the protectors are easily washable.

2. Wash Those Stains
If you didn’t happen to have a good mattress protector from when it was first purchased, then the chances are those regular coffees in bed have managed to leave stains on your mattress. You should always check your mattress regularly to check for stains and clean them as quickly as possible to make sure they don’t leave any long-lasting stains. Keeping your mattress clean for years will give it a much longer lifespan.

3. Follow Cleaning Guidelines
The type of material used to manufacture your mattress will determine how you can clean it. There’s no good scrubbing it to get rid of stains using furniture chemicals that are only going to ruin it further. Always have a look at the cleaning guide supplied by the manufacturer of the mattress to make sure it is cleaned properly.

4. Air Your Bed From Time to Time
It’s not always a good option to strip your bed and then take it down a few flights of stairs to let it air through on the driveway, but instead, you could simply open your windows and strip your bed for the day to give it some sunlight and much needed air. The air will keep it smelling fresh and the sunlight will help it keep its color.

5. Flip the Mattress
All mattresses are manufactured to have two sides that feel the same when you lie on them, so there is no reason why you shouldn’t flip the mattress regularly to ensure both sides get used as little as possible. This will keep the mattress fresh and prevent it from wearing down as quickly.

There is a lot you can do to keep your mattress clean and smelling fresh, and the above points are just some of the common ways to help you on your way. As long as you buy a mattress protector from the beginning and keep it clean regularly, there is no reason why you won’t be able to keep your mattress in excellent condition for years.
